chiropractic biophysics

Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) is revolutionary in its approach to offering corrective spinal care. A large part of its success and one of the chief drivers of its effectiveness is the Mirror Image methodology of executing adjustments.

Mirroring misalignments across all axis serves to call attention to deficits in spinal support. This then allows a chiropractor to pinpoint specific areas of weakness within the spine or supporting muscle groups, adjusting them individually to gauge the results. This step-by-step, targeted method of adjustment pays special attention to the individual facets of a spine and their relation to total spinal health.

How does it work?

As with any CBP approach to treatment, a comprehensive assessment of a patient’s spine is done, including radiological imaging. Through this imaging a chiropractor will then gauge misalignment via line-drawing and geometric curvature assessments, juxtaposing patient images with the measurements of an ideal spine.

Once the degree of misalignment is determined, pivotal areas of concern are pinpointed. These areas will be “reflected” by the patient for targeted adjustment. For example, if the cervical spine shows a heavy concave curvature that requires a lesser degree for ideal posture, a chiropractor will position a patient’s head further back during adjustments, to offset this excess curve.

Mirror imaging works across all areas of the spine and can benefit a wide range of misalignment types, including rotating vertebrae. It works across all axis, making it an effective treatment approach above routine adjustments.

Why does it work?

For patients with abnormal spinal alignment, the displaced position of their spine becomes the norm. This new norm has rippling effects that travel throughout the body. In order to correct this and “reset” the norm for a patient’s spine, Mirror Image adjustments overcompensate in the opposite, to cause progression back towards the ideal norm.

Mirror Image adjustments also target every aspect of misalignment all at once, to create a cohesive movement back to ideal. Rather than incrementally adjusting one issue at a time, Mirror Imaging can incrementally address an entire problem. This ensures everything is being eased back to ideal as a whole, instead of one by one, which might stagger recovery.

Finally, Mirror Image adjustments strengthen as they adjust. As patients are adjusted via mirrored actions, their bodies are being recalibrated to work in the way they should. For example, correcting translation to the left means preparing the right side muscle groups to re-support the spine. Mirror Image adjustments focus on building this strength incrementally as the translation is occurring. The final result is a corrected spine that’s also supported properly!

Mirroring results

The benefits and results of Mirror Image adjustments can be seen through radiological imaging. As films are taken to gauge the effectiveness of treatment, a CBP practitioner will have the ability to remap your alignment to observe the retention of mirrored adjustments. This provides quantifiable data as to the degree of movement, the amount of retention by your body in regards to the treatment course, and the remainder of treatment.

Chiropractic BioPhysics, or CBP, is one of the most scientific, researched, and results-oriented corrective care techniques. CBP-trained chiropractors aim to realign the spine back to health, eliminating nerve interference and addressing the source of pain, fatigue, and disease. As with all chiropractic care, CBP is gentle, painless, and non-invasive.
